Bluegrass music has a long history as part of cultural life in the Czech lands. In fact, bluegrass music been heard and played by Czechs for about as long as the form has existed–but how did this music travel from its heartland in the rural United States to Central Europe?
The 2013 documentary film Banjo Romantika helps provide some of the historical context for Czech love of bluegrass music and also helps interpret the “Americanism” that is common throughout the present-day Czech Republic.
