On Sunday, December 17, 1944 one of the largest air battles of World War II took place in the skies over Moravia. The U.S. Air Force attacked oil refineries in Nazi-occupied southern Poland. Nearly one thousand aircraft, including B-24s Liberators, B-17Gs Flying Fortresses, P-38 Lightnings, and P-51 Mustang fighters departed an Italian air base, not expecting strong resistence from the Luftwaffe, but they were wrong. The exhibition is in conjunction with the Veteran Community Center of Olomouc and curator Pavlína Vrtková.
