Its aim is to protect strategically important technologies and key infrastructure. While FDI supports employment, economic growth and innovation, it may also be used to acquire vital assets whose control is critical to the security of EU member states. This roundtable will present risks connected with non-standard economic behaviour of foreign powers and give insight into the development of the EU FDI screening framework. It will also explain the Czech Republic´s current position. Among the speakers will be Pavel Fischer, member of the Senate and Chairperson of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Security; and Ota Šimák, Deputy Director, Trade Policy Unit, Ministry of Industry and Trade. Outcomes of the project that was supported by International Visegrad Fund There will be presented within the round table. The event is organized in cooperation with Prague Security Studies Institute.
