About the Event

In Czech.

People in Need’s permanent mission in Afghanistan was founded at the end of 2001 to help find solutions to these serious concerns. PIN projects are coordinated through a central office in Kabul, and  an office in Mazar-e-Sharif ensure the coordination of programs in the north of Afghanistan. PIN also works in 14 field offices in the provinces of Kunduz, Balkh, Baghlan, Nangahar and Paktia.

The PIN mission in Afghanistan is introducing long-term solutions for poor nutrition, the development of rural communities and improvements in the quality of life for local residents. Education has emerged as one of PIN’s key issues, with the efforts aimed at providing education for boys and girls, and training qualified educational staff .

PIN also carries out long-term intensive work in selected rural communities, combining elements of education and community development with specialized technical assistance. PIN works to strengthen the ability of the local residents to jointly plan and find permanent solutions to problems in the community using locally-accessible resources with respect to the specifics of the local climate and terrain. Technical assistance focuses on solving the most urgent material problems of the community, especially the critical lack of drinking water and the very poor level of sanitation.

PIN works in close cooperation with local residents and the emerging institutions of state administration.  More about the mission on People in Need website.
