About the Event

Gilda is a 1946 American black-and-white film noir directed by Charles Vidor and starring Rita Hayworth in her signature role as the ultimate femme fatale and Glenn Ford as a young thug.

The legendary Rita Hayworth sizzles with sensuality and magnetism as she sings “Put the Blame on Mame” and deliveres a dazzling performance as the enticing temptress Gilda. In the story of Gilda, Johnny Farrell (Glenn Ford) goes to work for Ballin Mundson (George Macready), the proprietor of an illegal gambling casino in south American city, and quickly risees to become Mundsons “main man”.

All is well until Mundson returns from trip with his new bride Gilda, who is a woman from Johhny’s past. Their terrible secret festers and itches, and the erotic tension escalates. Gilda is satirically woozy with the strange mood of the time.

Mundson unaware of their previous love affair, assigns Farrell the job of keeping Gilda a faithful wife. Fraught with hatred, Gilda does her best to antagonize, intimidatr and instill jealousy in Farrell, untill circumstances allow him to get even.

In English, with English subtitles, IMDB rating: 7,8, 110 mins.
