Instituto Cervantes Praha, in cooperation with Czech NGO “We Are From the Same Planet” and the U.S. Embassy’s American Center in Prague, invite you to the opening of a photo exhibition by Prof. Jindřich Štreit on February 10 at 6 PM at the Instituto Cervantes. The collection of photographs portrays 30 foreigners who made the Czech Republic their second home and made significant contributions to Czech society.

As a part of the photo exhibition opening, the Instituto Cervantes Praha will host a cultural evening and discussion featuring famed documentary photographer Jindřich Štreit. The exhibition is composed of a series of photographs by J. Štreit and photographs depicting the establishment of an international park in Velká Bystřice, which was inspired by the original series of photos of foreigners living in the Olomouc region by J. Štreit. Continuation of the project “We are from the Same Planet” and future activities of the NGO of the same name are going to be introduces during the opening of the exhibition. Parts of the program will be in Czech, parts in Spanish and English.

Jindřich Štreit was born on September 5, 1946 in Vsetín. He is known primarily for his documentary photography. He graduated from the Faculty of Paedagogy of the Palacky University in Olomouc. In 2009, Štreit was awarded the title of professor at Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. Since 1967, he participated in more than 900 exhibitions all around the world, published more than thirty books. Since 1990, he has been actively supporting humanitarian and charity work – he authored several series of photographs on the culture of Roma and immigrants.
