The European premiere of the artistic documentary ‘The Last Flight of Petr Ginz’ about unusually talented Jewish boy, who in his 16 years when he was killed in Auschwitz, drew and painted more than 170 paintings, diaries and wrote two dozen short stories and with other boys from Terezin ghetto published underground magazine Vedem.
Story of Petr Ginz continued even after his death, when the Israeli astronaut Ilan Ramon took aboard the space shuttle Columbia a copy of his drawings called "Moonscape". Space shuttle Columbia exploded when returning to the Earth in the day of Petr´s birthday.
Special screenings will be held under the auspices of the first Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Karel Schwarzenberg and will be attended by sister of Petr Ginz, Chava Pressburger.
Features OPONA o.p.s. in cooperation with the European Shoah Legacy Institute, the Jewish Museum in Prague, the Jewish Community in Prague and with the support of the U.S. Embassy and the Embassy of the State of Israel.
