About the Event

Mr. Catania and Mr. Ignacio were producers for “In The Life,” the longest running lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender television newsmagazine show that aired across the U.S. and Canada from 1992 to 2012. With a focus on this year’s theme LOVE, they will present highlights from the “In the Life” series that will include the first love song between men shown on American television, a story about the 1993 battle for same-sex marriage in Hawaii that launched the marriage equality movement, a look at the first opera to focus on a lesbian couple, and heartwarming stories of two gay and lesbian couples who spent over 50 years together.

For two decades the award-winning “In the Life” series focused on the diversity, determination and richness of LGBT people in the U.S. and around the world. See stories from this historic program presented by two of the shows original producers.

“As a legally married, same-sex couple we understand the long road of social justice battles that made this possible. We bring our programs abroad with the hope of inspiring people to come out of the closet and take up the cause of LGBTI rights in their own countries. If we can play even a small part in this effort, we are extremely grateful for the opportunity.” – John Catania & Charles Ignacio
