About the Event

It will examine the legal regime governing the use of the radio frequency spectrum and orbital slots. Specifically, it will review the principles and regulations governing frequency spectrum allocations, the rights and obligations of the ITU Member States related to obtaining access to the spectrum/orbits, and international recognition of these rights.

The lecture led by Attila Matras will also describe challenges related to ensuring efficient, rational and cost-effective utilization of the orbit and spectrum resources.

Mr. Matas serves as Head of the Space Publications and Registration Division in the ITU Radio Communication Bureau – Space Services Department. He is responsible for the processing and publication of GSO and non-GSO space systems and Earth stations submitted by administrations for inclusion in the formal coordination procedures or recording in the Space Master International Frequency Register (SMIFR).
