This year, we commemorate the centennial of Route 66 being included into the U.S. Numbered Highway System. It runs from Chicago, Illinois, through eight states before terminating in Santa Monica, California, covering 2,448 miles (3,940 km). For many travelers, it has become a symbol of freedom and adventure. It is also referred to as the “Mother Road.” Along the way, you can visit historical landmarks, iconic motels with neon signs or typical diners. The American Center will commemorate the anniversary with an exhibition of photographs by Ken Trevor, who during his travels along Route 66 took a series of images that convey the unique atmosphere of this legendary highway. The exhibition will be accessible at the American Center during public programs and by prior arrangement from mid-June through September. Come enjoy an American summer road trip with us!
