About the Event

Join us for a screening and discussion of Mona Lisa Smile! The film tells the story of Katherine Watson, an art history professor in 1953 at the prestigious all-female Wellesley College in Massachusetts. Katherine encourages her conservative students to question and disregard what she considers outdated societal mores. She has a passion not only for art but also for teaching. While the students are all bright, Katherine feels they are not reaching their potential. Although she forms a strong bond with them, her views are incompatible with the dominant culture of the college. Come find out what happens next in this touching and thought-provoking U.S. movie.
