Please join us for the opening of Livin’ in the Hood – New York Street Life 1990 & 2013/2014 photo exhibition at the American Center. The photographs chronicle the New York adventures of two German photographers and showcase New York City from a personal perspective. While Jörg Rubbert photographed New York in 1990 in analog black and white images, Jürgen Bürgin captured the city and its residents in 2013 and 2014 with his colorful, narrative photographs. What both have in common is the thematic focus. They show New York’s daily life, its boroughs, and communities, as well as events and parades. Both photographers will attend the exhibition opening in person and will share their reflections about the atmosphere they felt in New York City at the time. You can see the photos at the American Center through September 25, 2025.
