Nine aircraft of the American 15th Air Force were lost in today’s Moravian-Silesian Region between July and December 1944, when strategic air raids on Upper Silesian refineries were taking place. The tenth crashed in March 1945, when its pilot tried to make an emergency landing behind the Russian front line due to a malfunction. The exhibition describes the circumstances of these events, and the fates of the aircraft crews.
