GATEWAY TO THE WEST: WHAT WILL 2023 MEAN FOR UKRAINE’S JOURNEY INTO THE EU AND NATO?

28.02.2023 - 16:00
American Center, Tržiště 13, Praha 1
Fee: Free

About the Event

In February 2022, Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Only days later, Ukraine applied for membership of the European Union. In June, it was granted the status of EU candidate country. According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, accession negotiations should start this year. Moreover, the Ukrainian leadership is hoping that the upcoming NATO summit that will be held in Vilnius in July will generate a clear signal that Ukraine is welcome to join the alliance.

How do experts who are watching the war closely view Ukraine’s aspirations to join Western structures, namely the EU and NATO? Will they materialize in the foreseeable future?

Introductory comments will be provided by representatives of U.S. Embassy Prague and the Embassy of Ukraine in the Czech Republic.
