Come and learn more about the lives and works of around two dozen artists of Czech background who ultimately settled and worked in California, many of them in Hollywood. The exhibition spans a period of more than 100 years, from the late 19th century – when the first settlers from the Czech lands arrived on the Pacific Coast; up to 1989 – when the communist regime collapsed and relations between Czechoslovakia and the United States could once again flourished. You will be able to see the artworks at the American Center through April 2, 2026 during public programs or by appointment. The exhibition is co-sponsored by the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the American Friends of the Czech Republic.
