About the Event

Did you miss the Czech-American Painters of California exhibition opening in February? You have a second chance to meet with exhibition curator Jaroslav Olša, Jr.  who will guide you through the exhibition. Join us for the guided tour that will highlight painters of Czech origin who worked in California.  Some of them devoted themselves to painting full-time and for some it was just a hobby while working in the booming film industry in the Hollywood Golden Age.  The exhibition revives the memory, especially in the Czech Republic, of important artists like Fred M. Sersen (Ferdinand Metoděj Sršeň), who won two Academy Awards for special effects; Emil Kosa Jr., best known for his Oscar-winning work for Cleopatra (1963); or Jerry Gebr (Jaroslav Gebr), who drew album covers for Frank Sinatra.  Come and see their work and stories for yourself at the American Center!

In Czech. RSVP by filling out the form below.
