Join us for the exhibition opening that will highlight painters of Czech origin who worked in California. Some of them devoted themselves to painting full-time and for some it was just a hobby, while working in the booming film industry in the Hollywood Golden Age. However, the majority are no longer very well remembered at least in the Czech Republic. Among them was Fred M. Sersen (Ferdinanad Metoděj Sršeň), who won two Academy Awards for special effects, Emil Kosa Jr., best known for his Oscar-winning work for Cleopatra (1963), or Jerry Gebr (Jaroslav Gebr) who drew album covers for Frank Sinatra. Come and see their artworks at the American Center! Chief Curator of the Prague City Gallery Helena Musilová and exhibition curator Jaroslav Olša, Jr. will open the program and tell you more about these and other Czech-American artists.
