What are the parallels between this year events in Arab world and the Velvet Revolution? And what makes the two historical moments different? The out-door exhibition “Almost Velvet Revolutions” opened on November 16, 2011 at Namesti republiky (Republic square) in Prague explores the answer in a visual way with the help of 46 photographs from the civil protests in Arab countries in 2011 and Czechoslovakia in 1989.
One of the goals of the exhibition organized by the Czech NGO “Insaan: Czech-Arab Centre for Cultural Dialogue,” with the support of the U.S. Embassy in Prague, is to increase tolerance in society towards minorities, especially those from the Arab world.
The exhibition is open till November 30.
