About the Event

This classic American film centers on an elderly Jewish widow living in Atlanta who can no longer drive. Her son insists she allow him to hire a driver, which in 1950s America typically meant an African-American man. She resists the change, but her son hires a man named Hoke, who slowly wins her over with his charm. The film, based on a play, covers over twenty years of the pair’s growth as they slowly build a relationship that transcends their differences. Directed by Bruce Beresford, starring Morgan Freeman and Jessica Tandy. Film won 4 Oscars, including Best picture. Hans Zimmer scored the film.
