On the occassion of the World Refugee Day (June 20), the American Center invites you to screening of movie The Good Lie and subsequent discussion with Ali Al Sudani, Director of Refugee Services in Houston, Texas.

On World Refugee Day, held every year on June 20th, we commemorate the strength, courage and perseverance of millions of refugees.

The Good Lie is a 2014 American-Indian drama film written by Margaret Nagle, and directed by Philippe Falardeau. Filmed in Atlanta, Georgia and South Africa, the film stars Reese Witherspoon, Arnold Oceng, Ger Duany, Emmanuel Jal, Corey Stoll, and Sarah Baker. A group of Sudanese refugees given the chance to resettle in America arrive in Kansas City, Missouri, where their encounter with an employment agency counselor forever changes all of their lives.
