Professor Steven Doig will talk about the challenges faced by news organizations in meeting their obligation to give voters independent information about the candidates and issues in the Presidential election.

He also will discuss the proliferation of media-sponsored fact-checking efforts like PolitiFact in gauging the credibility of claims made by candidates.

Stephen K. Doig is an American journalist, professor of journalism at Arizona State University, and a consultant to print and broadcast news media with regard to data analysis investigative work. He currently serves as a Fulbright scholar in the Faculty of Social Studies Department at Masaryk University in Brno.
