About the Event

The U.S. Embassy´s American Center will bring you fascinating presentations and panel discussions on launching new businesses in the Czech Republic, how to translate your ideas into a business plan, how to identify funding for your big idea and much more!

THE PROGRAM will include the following:

10:30-12:00  Entrepreneurship & Women: The Rise of Female Entrepreneurs in the CR

In this panel, we will discuss the rise of female entrepreneurs in the Czech Republic, how women can overcome barriers to entrepreneurship, where women can look for business networks and support, and models of success. In Czech.

The discussion will be open by Tamar Newberger. Panel will include

  • Alena Křížková (Sociologický ústav AV ČR).

 12:30- 13:30 Starting a Startup

U.S. entrepreneur Ajit D’Sa, founder of Bandize, AjitCo and Tidbits, as well as Principal with TRNSFR and HealCodes, will speak about his experience as a software engineer with IBM and other technology firms and how he made the leap from the corporate world to the start-up world. In English, with translation into Czech. 

 14:00 – 15:00  Where’s the Money?: Financing Start-ups in the Czech Republic

Representatives from crowdfunding, private equity and government will discuss where to look for funding when you have a business idea and what they look for. In Czech, with translation into English.

The panel will include:

15:00- 15:45 Transition: Startup NGO to Startup LLC

American entrepreneur, Director of reSITE, and Fulbright Alumnus Martin Barry, will discuss his experience in forming an NGO and leading a successful forum, now diversifying into an innovative startup in the Czech Republic. In English, with translation into Czech.

 

16:00-17:00 Networking event

with welcome remarks by the U.S. Ambassador to the Czech Republic Andrew Schapiro.
