About the Event

Can Czech public media learn from other country’s public media models? ? How can the public media be improved to further meet the information needs of the public? What changes might the public media consider to ensure that coverage, particularly of corruption cases, is adequate? Come and discuss with experts on the current situation of public-service media in the Czech Republic. The panel will include:

Jan Kraus, hActor, TV talk show host, publicist, playwright and program director. Co-founder and spokesman of the Czech Television–a Public Affair movement during the broadcaster’s crisis in 2000.

  • Karel Hvížďala, Journalist and writer, one-time chief reporter of Mladá fronta Dnes and editor of Týden weekly. Author of more than 20 books, two of which focus on the media..
  • Adam Černý , Chair of the Czech Syndicate of Journalists who has worked as a foreign affairs commentator for many media organizations (Lidové noviny, Czech Television, Týden, and Hospodářské noviny)

Publicist, TV screenwriter, and artistic director David Smoljak will moderate the discussion. In Czech.
