From Child Star to Diplomat is a 60-minute one-woman presentation. Actor JoAnn Peterson brings Shirley Temple Black to life, regaling humorous and poignant stories in first person, of how the darling of the Silver Screen and world’s #1 box office draw (1935-38), grew up to be the U.S. Ambassador to Czechoslovakia during the fall of Communism, playing a part in the Velvet Revolution.

The presentation, written by and performed by Peterson, is based on archival materials, TV interviews, articles, books, and information provided to Peterson from people who knew Shirley, including Shirley’s family members and Shirley’s Public Affairs Officer while in Prague, Amb. Tom Hull.

The program will be in English.
