Main image John Nepomucene Neumann, the first canonized American

The American Center presents works inspired by the Redemptorist John Nepomucene Neumann (*1811 in Prachatice- †1860 in Philadelphia), the first canonized American.

The exhibited paintings were created by artists at the SALVE art workshops in Prachatice. Annually, artists from the Czech Republic, Austria, Germany, Slovenia and France gather in Prachatice and create art. The town of Prachatice then sends the artworks to exhibitions worldwide. Workshops and symposiums are part of Prachatice modern history.

Since Neumann’s sister entered the St. Charles Borromeo Congregation and turned their native house into a monastery, Sisters of St. Charles Borromeo will sing at the opening.

The exhibition runs until 9 October 2015.

The program will be immediately followed by a screening of the film, Amazing Grace.

In Czech/English.
